Do you all still think retired and out of service (and now disassociated) Wright is going to be a problem for Obama, knowing that McCain has The Reverends John Hagee and Rod Parsley actively working in his campaign?
Dear Senator Obama
Hey Bro, as always I give you my warmest regards and praise. You are a great man of exemplary honor and integrity, a unifying leader, and a harbinger of hope and how hopeful the future can be. Please come visit Hawaii before the General Election, because the folks out here would love to see you, but to be totally honest, we would be more happy if you came to visit us as the next President of the United States of America.
But there is an immediate issue that has become of serious concern to me, and to a lot of other people. In the great city of Detroit, there is a situation brewing that could potentially lead to a riot.
Like most of the nation, I really don't know what is going on in Detroit, but according to the news it has something to do with sexual misconduct and perjury allegation made against Detroit's African American mayor, and the word "nigger" and death threat being hurled at said mayor.
I am uncertain as to how much of a friend the mayor of Detroit is to you, or if you have even ever met him, but there is no denying that many of the people of the City of Detroit, and of the state of Michigan, look up to you, and see you as a transformative leader that can greatly help America and Americans heal their racial divides.
Is there anyway that you can help the people and politicians of Detroit settle their situation, before it becomes dire?
I believe most Obama and Clinton supporters would be of the opinion that you can help in Detroit, and all of the Obama supporters, that I know personally, would be greatly appreciative if you could go to Detroit and try to help the people and politicians there settle their situation peacefully.
I can't speak for all Obama's supports, but I am sure that many Obama supporters would lend their voice to this message.
Thank you very much for the positive message you have given throughout this nomination process, and I look forward to you taking back Washington DC for all us that have long wanted real change in our government for a long time.
Yes we can!
Sincerely
A serviceman, a patriot, and one of your supporters.
In recent comments, I have hinted that I am mulling voting for McCain, if Hillary wins the nomination, for the obvious reasons, none of which are debatable.
Fact: McCain is a war hero that spent 5 year as a POW, when he had the option to return home because he was an admiral's son.
Fact: McCain's son has gone to Iraq.
Fact: McCain said he would shut down Gitmo
Fact: McCain has spoken out passionately against torture.
However, never did I say McCain was fit to be Commander in Chief, in fact I said repeatedly that I thought he was unfit to be CinC.
But Clinton implied that he is fit to be CinC (and that Obama wasn't).
How does it feel to have somebody give McCain more praise than they give Hillary?
Feels terrible doesn't it?
Well, now you know how Obama supporters felt.
Only it wasn't a blogger that praised McCain over Obama, it was Clinton herself.
She aint getting my vote.
PS All of the above facts will be campaign points for McCain and his surrogates to use, and Hillary's apparent CinC endorsement will be another campaign point that team McCain can use.
PPS If McCain says that he is running for president to protect his son, then it will be very hard for military families to vote against McCain, but no one is going to vote to protect Chelsea's hedge fund.
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
Martin Luther King Jr.
Until Hillary comes out and publicly states that she does not endorse McCain over Obama, then the perception will be that she publicly endorsed McCain over Obama, which effectively is a Hillary endorsement of McCain over Obama.
Never has Obama, or an Obama surrogate, said anything that could even remotely be considered an endorsement of McCain over Clinton.
For the past few days you may have noticed how irate I have become regarding Hillary's apparent endorsement of McCain.
Hillary's insinuation that McCain was fit to be Commander in Chief, and that Obama wasn't, was the most duplicitous, underhanded, back stabbing, disgraceful, vindictive, shameful attempt as character assassination I have ever seen.
In the military we have an unwritten rule that you never turn on your of own. Even piranhas don't eat each other. It is a matter of honor and integrity, and by committing what is tantamount to political treason, Hillary proved she has neither.
I work at a installation in which nearly every state in the union is representing within the work force, and we keep a close eye on who our next Commander in Chief might be. Where I work everyone was aghast at what Clinton said; the Clinton supporters were disappointed, the Obama supporters were mortified, the McCain supporters were dumbfounded, and the undecided were disgusted. But we all agreed that such a woman should not lead the armed forces.
Hillary is a sleaze, and I cannot find it in my heart to feel anything but contempt for her.
But if you look at her donor list, you would see that I had given her modest donations for a couple of months late last year. Well, she will receive no support from me ever again.
And, I will have nothing to do with MYDD either.
Politically I have made up my mind, I am either checking the box with Obama's name in the top spot, or I am writing his name in.
But I will leave you with one last poll.
PS: other adjectives I would use to describe Hillary behavior would be pathetic, desperate, undignified, obnoxious, horrific, disheartening, and most importantly unpresidential, but if you lot want her, she yours.
Since Clinton has endorsed McCain as qualified to be Commander in Chief, and since she is losing the Democratic Nomination, perhaps she should drop out and be McCain's running mate?
Personally I was hoping tonight would put Hillary out of her misery, but she did the minimum of what she needed to do to stay in the race; win both Texas and Ohio and win one of them by at least 10 points, which she barely did.
Tomorrow we will probably see her pledged delegate deficit shrink by 35-45, but she will still be down by 105-115 in the pledged delegates, and by 65-75 in the projected total delegates.
Yeah, she could win this, and I can no longer call Clinton supporters "die hards", but this is still Obama's to lose, and the remaining 11 (9 states and 2 territories) contests all look good for Obama for the follow reasons:
Only one of the up coming states is a big state, Pennsylvania, and he has 6 weeks to get his massive ground game in place to focus exclusively on it.
None of the remaining contests have high Hispanic American populations (though, I think Texas is proof that Obama has made good in roads with that constituency), other than Puerto Rico, but the Governor of Puerto Rico has already endorsed Obama.
Geographically all of the remaining states are in regions where Obama is strong; the South, the Northern great plains, Indiana and Kentucky (which both border Illinois), Oregon, and West Virginia (close to DC).
Pennsylvania is a concern, but as I pointed out Obama has 6 weeks to focus exclusively on it, and Clinton would need to win that state by at least 20 points to over come her delegate deficit.
However, unless Obama wins Pennsylvania (a possibility no one should rule out), then I think we are looking at a contested convention, and I don't think Clinton has a chance against McCain, unless she takes Obama as her running mate (if you don't believe me, then look at projections based on polls of how the state by state electoral college will go).
But I still see the odds as favoring Obama, and that he would do better to pick Webb, Kaine, McCaskill, or Sebelius as his running mate.
In the mean while, if you are a Democrat and didn't fear McCain, then you should now. This fight has gotten ugly, and it will tear the party apart.
